I totally agree, software architects are generalists, not specialists. They need to know enough to make decisions about frameworks, languages, and other design questions. But they don't need to be able to ship code in a specific language or framework like devs do. You're not alone feeling intimidated by that.
I think it comes down to a different perspective on software. You need a much more high-level view than devs typically have. To get that to that point, you don't need to throw away your expertise in the world of Java, of course. But you'll need to learn a lot about other frameworks and have many conversations with devs who are working with different technologies.
And regardless of whether you're a dev or an architect, don't be afraid to make mistakes. Of course mistakes as an architect might be much more consequential than mistakes of a dev; however, if you always learn from your mistakes and fix them quickly you'll be fine in the long run :)
